Frequently asked questions

What is a Postpartum Doula?

A postpartum doula provides emotional and physical support for mothers after birth by providing evidence-based information and hands-on care in the early weeks of postpartum healing. The Sacred Window, or The Fourth Trimester, is traditionally seen as the first 6-8 weeks following birth, but postpartum care can extend far beyond this initial phase of recovery. I wholeheartedly believe we are forever postpartum after birth, and I love working with clients at any stage of their journeys.

My offerings are centered around supporting deep healing through nourishing foods, gentle bodywork, and compassionate presence. I also offer guidance with newborn care and lactation, so you can feel confident and supported as you bond with your baby and settle into this tender new chapter.

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is traditional Indian medicine dating back over 5000 years. The word “Ayurveda” is a Sanskrit term that translates to “the science of life” and it’s often referred to as “The Mother of All Healing.” Ayurveda is a holistic science that aims to harmonize our internal and external worlds—body, mind, spirit, and environment. The first forty-two days after childbirth are seen as a sacred period of rest, healing, and bonding between mama and baby that requires attentive and individualized care.
